Township Geographics
Washington Township is one of twelve Townships in Hendricks County, Indiana. It covers an area of 38.68 square miles. Of this, 0.03 square miles ,or 0.09%, is water. The streams of Abner Creek, Army Branch, Lake Forest Creek, White Lick Creek and March Creek run through this township.
The Township jurisdictional borders are as follows:
- North: County Road 250 North
- South: County Road 300 South
- East: Raceway Road (County Line Road)
- West: County Road 400 East
The entire Town of Avon and portions of the Town of Plainfield lie within the boundaries of Washington Township.
Adjacent Townships include Lincoln to the north, Wayne (Marion County) to the east, Decatur (Marion Township) to the southeast, Guilford to the south, Liberty to the southwest, Center to the west and Middle to the northwest.
Five cemetaries are under the direct care of the Township: Abner Creek, Barlow, North Lawn, Gossett and Old Salem.
Major highways passing through Washington Township include US Highway 36, US Highway 40 and Indiana State Road 267.
